Wisdom in a world of worry

Today is April 1st, a day normally synonymous with fools and pranksters. But not so this year, we have far more pressing matters to focus on.

Covid-19 put a halt to endless activities and events around the world. One of them was the Drawn to the Valley Spring Exhibition - The Heralds of Spring, celebrating the daffodil.

As a community of artists living within the Tamar Valley we have been invited to take our craft online and share our creativity through social media. Join us on our journey through the month of April and explore different media through our artists' eyes. Follow @drawntothevalley

@mrs_marvellous and find other artists along the way. Today's prompt is #wisdom

The textile pictures I was due to be exhibiting are still safe and sound with the framer, victims of the lockdown. But here is a peek of my intrepretation of Pentillie Castle, a stunning venue for weddings and events situated on the banks of the River Tamar. I created it using repurposed fabrics, applique and free motion embroidery. The daffodils in the foreground are hand embroidered French knots and the lace daffodil proudly stands in 3D adding to the depth and texture of the piece. I look forward to seeing it framed!

I look forward to sharing my journey with you.

Keep safe, well and positive, Joanna
